PRE maintainers perform infield inspections to monitor condition, for preventative purposes and to complete mandatory assessments such as A/B/PM/56 day exams. Tasks performed infield are wide in scope and include bogie and wheelset change-outs, structural body repairs, king casting replacement and draft package replacement.

PRE's new wheel turning service offers rail freight operators in the Hunter Valley an efficient, competitive and affordable service with quick turnaround and lightning response. It also offers a way of reducing handling costs and diminishing the wheel pool.

PRE picks up and delivers wheelsets to and from our customers' premises saving our clients valuable time and money. Our modern facility has wheel turning capabilities for both narrow and standard gauge wheelsets. A 'swap and go' component exchange system allows customers to immediately change wheelsets at their preferred location. All this from an appropriate Hunter Valley location.
